By the end of this video, participants should be able to:
- Describe the ACE Study, its key findings, and the connection between ACEs and health outcomes, including substance use disorders.
- Explain how toxic stress impacts brain development, the body’s stress-response systems, and mental health, particularly as it relates to substance use risk factors.
- Identify the systemic issues that perpetuate cycles of trauma and substance use.
- Explore Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), protective factors, and evidence-based interventions that counteract ACEs and foster resilience.
- Participate in a reflective exercise designed to strengthen internal resilience while establishing the foundation for the importance of Community Resiliency Model (CRM).

Fabricia Prado, LCSW
Fabricia Prado is a trilingual (Portuguese/Spanish/English) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Georgia with a master’s degree in social work from Kennesaw State University and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás, Brazil. A Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional (CATP) and ACE Interface Master Trainer through the National Hispanic and Latino PTTC, Fabricia works to raise awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their public health impact using evidence-based strategies to build resilience. She has received intensive training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and other trauma-sensitive approaches.
